New Review Mabuhay Lounge – Manila (MNL)

Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) can be quite confusing for travelers due to its layout. The airport is divided into four terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 (also known as Centennial Terminal), Terminal 3, and Terminal 4. A free shuttle service is available for transfers between these terminals, which is convenient for those with connecting flights. Alternatively, you can take a taxi, but walking between terminals, especially in the dark, is not recommended due to safety concerns and the distance involved.

Location and Access

The Mabuhay Lounge is located in Terminal 2, which primarily serves Philippine Airlines flights. After passing through security and passport control, you’ll find the lounge situated after the duty-free area. While the lounge isn’t particularly well-signposted, it’s not overly difficult to find once you’re familiar with the terminal’s layout.

Access to the lounge is granted to Business Class passengers and those with relevant status, such as Philippine Airlines’ Mabuhay Miles Elite or other partner airline elite statuses.

Amenities

The lounge is sufficiently spacious for the number of departing flights it serves. In the evening, the lounge can feel somewhat dimly lit, which might not be ideal for some travelers.

The restroom facilities are acceptable, though if you’re coming from countries like Japan or Taiwan, you might be accustomed to a higher standard of cleanliness and amenities.

The selection of drinks and food is generous, which was important for me as I wanted to eat before my flight to Port Moresby so I could sleep during the journey. The lounge offers a variety of local and international dishes, including snacks and light meals, which can be satisfying for those looking to fill up before a long flight.

The lounge is divided into different areas: tables and chairs in the food area, sofa seats for a more cozy experience, and a small workspace for those needing to catch up on work or emails. This layout helps to create a comfortable environment for different types of travelers.

Conclusion

The Mabuhay Lounge in Manila is okay for passing the time until your next flight. It serves its purpose by providing a quiet space to relax and grab a bite to eat, but it doesn’t exceed expectations in terms of luxury or unique amenities. For travelers looking for a basic, no-frills lounge experience, it’s a decent choice. However, if you’re accustomed to more premium lounges, you might find it lacking in comparison.
