New Review – Star Alliance Gold Lounge Amsterdam (AMS)

Location

The Star Alliance Gold Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is one of many lounges available to travelers with Star Alliance Gold status or a Business/First Class ticket. Located in Terminal 1, Departure 2, on the third floor, it operates from Monday to Sunday between 5:30 AM and 9:00 PM. It’s always advisable to check the current opening hours, as they may change.

Access

Access to the lounge is granted to holders of a Star Alliance Gold card, often acquired through memberships in programs like Miles & More (Lufthansa), MileagePlus (United Airlines), or Miles & More (Swiss). Additionally, passengers with a Business or First Class ticket have access, regardless of their status. Companions are also welcome as long as they are traveling with a Star Alliance Gold member.

It’s common for people to try to gain entry here because the lounge next door is often crowded and less appealing.

As with every Star Alliance lounge, there’s a lovely phrase displayed here.

Amenities

Immediately to the right after entering, you can store your luggage in lockers. Unfortunately, not all lockers seem to be functioning, so during my visits, staff have kindly offered to keep an eye on my luggage. It’s nice of them, but it’s a shame the lockers aren’t being repaired.

The lounge offers a cozy atmosphere with a clever division into different areas.

There are high tables for quick work sessions as well as smaller workstations further back in the room. A large table provides space for groups or meetings. The food varies by time of day, but salads and cold cuts are available throughout the day. Two hot dishes are regularly replenished.

The beverage selection is extensive and self-service. Beer enthusiasts can even enjoy draft beer. Soft drinks are stored in refrigerators, and several coffee machines are scattered throughout the lounge area.

The wine rack is for display purposes only 😉, but it cleverly conceals the restrooms. Unfortunately, there are no showers available in the lounge.

Comfort and Ambiance

The lounge offers a pleasant atmosphere that allows you to relax before your flight. The comfortable seating at the window front is particularly noteworthy, although it doesn’t replace a nap room. Overall, the lounge is well-designed and provides a pleasant environment to spend time.

Conclusion

The Star Alliance Gold Lounge in Amsterdam is a solid choice for travelers who appreciate the comfort of a lounge. Although it lacks showers or sleeping facilities, it is well-equipped and offers a pleasant atmosphere to unwind before departure.
