Booking

The Waldorf Astoria in Dubai’s Financial District had been on my wish list for a while. A long weekend provided the perfect opportunity to book it. Since I wanted to test several hotels, I opted for the cheapest rate available for a King Deluxe Room. This strategy allowed me to experience different hotels without breaking the bank.

Location

The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Dubai International Airport (DXB) by taxi or Uber, depending on traffic. The Dubai Mall, with the iconic Burj Khalifa, is just a 5-minute taxi ride away. This proximity to major attractions makes the hotel an excellent choice for those looking to explore Dubai’s shopping and dining scene. The nearest Dubai Metro station is about a 10-minute walk, making it easy to use public transportation to explore other parts of the city.

Check-In

I arrived at the hotel around 3:00 PM local time via Uber. The staff took care of my luggage right at the vehicle and escorted me to the check-in area on the 18th floor. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t ready yet, but I was upgraded to a King Premier Suite. While waiting, I was offered tea or coffee in the lounge, which I enjoyed before heading out to the mall. Upon my return, everything was ready, and I received my room key. This level of service set a positive tone for my stay, showcasing the hotel’s commitment to guest satisfaction.

Room

Upon entering the suite, I was more than just positively surprised. The suite includes a living room with a spacious workspace, a separate bedroom, a very large bathroom with a toilet, shower, and bathtub, and a guest toilet.

Starting from the entrance area, which leads directly into the living room, you’ll find comfortable sofas, a coffee table, and a large TV. The coffee table had a welcome gift, which was very tasty. There’s also an original and noble mini-bar near the workspace. The workspace features a comfortable chair and a desk that truly deserves its name. The mini-bar contains everything you might need for an aperitif.

In the bedroom, there’s a seating area and another large TV. You can control the lights and curtains using switches, but the turndown service takes care of this, so you don’t need to worry about it when you go to bed.

The bathroom is enormous, with two sinks equipped with the same amenities. The bathtub is on the right side, opposite the sinks. The shower and toilet are in separate rooms with glass doors. The toiletries are high-quality and of good standard.

As expected, there’s a safe, ironing board, and a coffee machine. These amenities ensure that guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay.

Bar / Restaurant

Breakfast is served in the restaurant as an elegant buffet, with egg dishes prepared à la carte and freshly made. I also appreciated the logo on the coffee and chocolate, which added a nice touch. This level of attention to detail reflects the hotel’s commitment to providing a premium dining experience.

Additionally, there’s a bar offering drinks and light meals, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring Dubai.

Pool

The pool area is also located on the 18th floor, featuring a pool, pool bar, and a whirlpool. Depending on where you swim, you can enjoy views of the Burj Khalifa, which is a unique and memorable experience.

Fitness Center

The gym is well-equipped and offers enough variety for an extended workout. It also boasts views from the 18th floor, making your exercise routine more enjoyable. For fitness enthusiasts, this facility ensures that you can maintain your routine while traveling.

Check Out

Check-out was straightforward and friendly, with the staff offering to bring my luggage directly to the vehicle. This efficient process allowed me to depart without any hassle, rounding off a smooth and enjoyable stay.
