New Review – Steigenberger Airport Hotel (BER)

Location and booking

As the Steigenberger Airport Hotel is one of the few hotels at BER that is directly at the airport, I decided to stay there for the early flight. Unfortunately, you can’t expect any signage at BER for the hotel. You have to walk towards the S-Bahn and then straight back up again. Theoretically, you could also walk across the forecourt where the cabs are parked, but this is not appreciated.

I had purchased a voucher in advance at a sale (15% discount) and that’s where the problem started at check-in…..

Check In

….Yes, everything was bumpy. Apart from the employee’s language skills or ignorance, they made an effort. However, a large amount was still blocked on the credit card on file and I’m waiting to see how long it takes to resolve. All in all, rather tedious than easy. (even though I had sent the corresponding voucher in advance).

In addition to the classic check-in, there are also some machines that are designed to take this work off the staff’s hands.

Room

With the room card in hand, we went to our room.

The bathroom with shower and WC is on the left-hand side.

As always, the beds take up most of the room. From there you can also see the TV, which is quite large.

There were also two free bottles of water in the room on arrival. There was also an armchair and table, as well as a safe and minibar (empty).

Amenities

It also has a fitness studio and a gym (the latter is open 24 hours a day)

There is a bar/restaurant on the first floor and a breakfast room next to it. However, I was not able to visit the latter. The bar and restaurant look modern and good. However, the waiters were visibly and audibly unhappy with the guests and the hotel. Personally, I think this is a great pity, especially as I had higher expectations of the Steigenberger.

Another comment is that the internet in the hotel did not always work. This can lead to higher roaming charges for some guests (like me) which only got resolved after what felt like a long time. I was offered a free breakfast for the inconvenience, but I thankfully declined.

Check Out

Also bumpy, but I was promised a callback, which they kept.

Conclusion

Mixed feelings is what I would call it. On the one hand, the location of the hotel is very good, but I would personally prefer a different hotel next time (also from the same chain). The solution with the internet (and it was shifted to the airport) and the problems with the voucher simply cost me too many nerves and time.
