New Review – Platinum Lounge Schengen Budapest (BUD)

Location and access

The Platinum Lounge is located in Terminal 2A and is currently open daily from 05:00am – 8:00pm. If you are unsure about the signs, just turn right out of Duty Free and you will see the lounge near Gate A8.

Access to the lounge is either by invitation from the relevant airline (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels, Aegean or AirBaltic) or with the PriorityPass, DinersClub, LoungeBuddy etc.. Otherwise, you can also purchase two-hour access here on site for EUR 34.

Amenities

The lounge is structured a bit like an “L”. At the entrance there is a bar with spirits on the right-hand side and behind it a fridge with other drinks for self-service.

This is followed by the food. There is a salad bar and, depending on the time of day, changing hot dishes, all of which are self-service.

In terms of taste, I would describe it as “okay”, but at the lower end of okay.

Apart from that, there are different seating areas in the lounge, although you can tell how old they are. Overall, everything here is rather dark and there is no real daylight. They haven’t really thought about power sockets either. Once you have found a place with a socket, you should defend it.

There are also toilets in the lounge with the small special feature that there is also free deodorant etc.

Conclusion

To bridge the waiting time (and if you have no other alternatives via PriorityPass etc.) then the lounge is sufficient. But I wouldn’t be at the airport any earlier for it.
