New Review – AC Hotel by Marriott, Riga (RIX)

Location and booking

I booked this AC hotel by using a cashback site (not Shoop this time, but I can also recommend it and have described it here) which gave me another 4% discount. It is quite central and everything can be reached quickly from here. A trip from the airport costs around 9 euros, depending on the time, and a cab should be around 15 euros.

Check In

Unfortunately, the familiar upgrade game was played here. All the better categories were cheerfully sold, but even as a Titanium member, no real effort was made to find a better room.

In front of the check-in on the right side there is a small business center where you also have some seats to wait, as well as a PC.

With the room card in hand and the necessary information about the hotel, we went to my room.

Room

Basically not very big, but clean. On the right side is the bathroom which is okay so far.

The room itself has a strange shelf where there is also a safe and where you can hang clothes.

The main part of the room is taken up by a comfortable bed, and sufficient power sockets have also been provided.

Of course, a television is also a must:

At the window there is a coffee machine, free water and a minibar for a fee. There was also a piece of chocolate and a card from the hotel. There is also a storage area for your luggage.

Amenities

Since breakfast is not included for Elite Members at AC Hotels, I opted for the daily 10 euro voucher.

One evening I was able to eat quite decently in the restaurant on the other side of the reception. The spaghetti was really good and so was the service.

For those who are curious, the menu looks like this:

To work off the food, there is a gym on the top floor which offers a great view over Riga in daylight. Unfortunately, my pictures were always taken in the evening. Nevertheless, the gym is good so far (but not that big).

Check Out

Checked out via app and everything was fine.

Conclusion

If it wasn’t for this upgrade game – but to be fair, I was checked in by a trainee and I find it difficult to insist so strongly on my benefits. The location is okay, from here you can get anywhere in Riga very quickly (at least by Bolt). If the price was good, I would stay here again for a short time.
