New Review Hilton – Tokyo (Hilton Shinjuku)

Booking

The aim was to find affordable nights with a certain level of luxury in Tokyo over the New Year period, which is particularly challenging in Tokyo over the New Year period. The Hilton chain has several hotels in Tokyo, the Hilton and the Conrad made it to the shortlist. Economic reasons led me to book the cheapest available room at the Hilton Tokyo.

Location

The hotel is easy to reach from Haneda Airport by car or public transportation, but it is a little longer from Narita Airport. Shinjuku station is a 10-minute walk or a hotel shuttle ride away. From there you can take the Narita Express. However, it is ideal for a stay in Tokyo, as the metro is a five-minute walk away. Shinjuku station can be reached quickly by metro, from there you have access to all JR lines and can also easily reach the Shinkansen trains via Tokyo. The shopping/exit district in Shinjuku is also within easy walking distance.

Check In

Since I arrived on New Year’s Day, the hotel was very busy, my arrival was around 5pm, but I still had to wait a short time. The staff was very helpful and friendly, as a Hilton Diamond I was given an upgrade to a better room, which I found nice, as the room was not yet ready, I was given a card for the lounge. The luggage was brought directly to the room in the meantime. In the lounge, I was then finally allocated the room and released.

Room

The first impression of the room is quite good and bright. On the right-hand side is the bathroom with WC and shower. As usual with Hilton, the usual care products such as shower gel and shampoo are available.

In the room itself, there is a comfortable chair next to the bed, an aperitif table and a work desk. Unfortunate are the sockets, which were not available everywhere in the room with our 3-pin plugs.

The large TV is clearly visible from the bed. As usual, there is a safe, ironing board and coffee machine. As usual with Hilton, the promised bottles of water are also in the room, which I appreciate.

Bar / Restaurant

Breakfast is available in the restaurant or in the lounge as a buffet, as the hotel was fully booked, both places were accordingly very busy. Both Japanese and Western dishes are on offer. There are also several restaurants and bars in the hotel.

Executive Lounge

The Executive Lounge is beautiful and, depending on your seat and the weather, you can see Mount Fuji. The food and drinks are of a high quality.

Amenities

The indoor pool is spacious. The fitness room, on the other hand, is open 24 hours and offers everything you need for a workout. I think the headphones, which you can borrow free of charge, are a great thing. Depending on the weather, it’s also worth using the tennis court above the rooftops of Tokyo.

Check Out

As usual with Hilton, check-out was uncomplicated and friendly. I was able to reach Shinjuku station and therefore my train to Osaka relatively easily using public transport or the hotel shuttle to the station.

Conclusion

The stay was good for the value I paid, the location was brilliant and the breakfast was really tasty. I would happily stay here again.
