New Review – Hilton London Angel Islington

Introduction

Due to health reasons, I had to postpone my London trip. During the rebooking process, I didn’t realize that it coincided with the coronation of King Charles, which made hotels relatively expensive. The best solution for me was to book the Hilton London Angel Islington with a non-refundable rate through the Hilton app. Since it was only for one night, I opted for the cheapest room available, a King Guest Room. This decision was largely driven by the need to save on costs, as the coronation event had significantly increased hotel prices across London.

Location

The hotel is about a five-minute walk from the Angel Underground station and a quarter of an hour from Islington station. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance, making it a great base for exploring London’s culinary scene. The location is also convenient for accessing other parts of the city via public transportation. Islington is known for its vibrant atmosphere, with numerous bars, restaurants, and theaters nearby, offering a lively experience for travelers.

Check-In

I arrived at the hotel before the official check-in time. The check-in process was smooth, and I was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a King Executive Room. This upgrade was a nice gesture, especially considering the high demand for rooms during the coronation period. The staff’s willingness to accommodate guests with upgrades when possible reflects the hotel’s commitment to customer satisfaction.

Room

The initial impression is solid and bright. On the left side, the bathroom is equipped with a toilet. The bathroom lighting is good for hotel standards. As expected, the necessary toiletries (shower gel and shampoo) are available. Next to the comfortable bed, there’s a cozy sofa and a workspace.

The TV with relevant channels is easily viewable from the bed. There’s also a safe, ironing board, and a coffee machine. The complimentary water bottles offered by Hilton are available in the room. The mini-bar is empty, but you can chill water in it. This setup is typical for many Hilton hotels, providing guests with the essentials for a comfortable stay.

Bar / Restaurant

Breakfast is served in the restaurant as a generous buffet, including a small live cooking station for egg dishes. This is a nice touch, as freshly prepared food can make a big difference in starting your day off right. The buffet offers a variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.

Additionally, there’s a bar offering drinks, although it was closed in the evening. For travelers arriving late, it might be worth noting that dining options outside the hotel are plentiful in the Islington area. The neighborhood is renowned for its eclectic mix of restaurants, cafes, and pubs, providing ample choices for dinner or a nightcap.

Lounge

The lounge is located in the entrance area and is accessible to guests with Executive rooms as well as those with status. It operates from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Depending on the time of day, it offers warm dishes and alcoholic beverages. The lounge is a great place to relax and enjoy some snacks before heading out to explore London. For business travelers or those looking for a quiet spot to unwind, the lounge provides a comfortable environment.

Fitness Center

The gym is well-equipped and provides enough variety for an extended workout. For fitness enthusiasts, this facility ensures that you can maintain your routine while traveling. The gym is open 24/7, allowing guests to fit in a workout at their convenience.

Check-Out

Check-out was straightforward and friendly. The efficient process allowed me to depart without any hassle, which is important for travelers with tight schedules. The staff’s attentiveness to ensuring a smooth check-out experience rounds off a pleasant stay.

Conclusion

The stay was okay. The hotel is in a good location for dining and exploring London. Its proximity to public transportation and local restaurants makes it a practical choice for those looking to experience the city’s vibrant culture. While it might not offer anything extraordinary, it serves its purpose well as a comfortable base for short stays in London. The hotel’s amenities and service are consistent with what you’d expect from a Hilton property, making it a reliable option for travelers.
