New Review – Airport Lounge Dresden (DRS)

Dresden Airport (DRS) is a smaller international airport serving the city of Dresden in eastern Germany. It offers flights to various European destinations and is known for its convenient location and relatively low traffic compared to larger German airports.

Location and Access

The airport lounge at Dresden Airport is accessible to passengers with Lufthansa/Swiss Senator status or those holding a Business Class ticket. Additionally, customers with Eurowings and KLM who have the appropriate status can also enter. The lounge operates from Monday to Sunday between 4:30 AM and 8:00 PM. However, it’s always a good idea to check for any changes in opening hours, as these can vary based on flight schedules and operational needs.

Unfortunately, holders of the popular Priority Pass cannot access this lounge. This might be a consideration for travelers who rely on lounge access through such programs.

Amenities

To the observant visitor, it’s clear that this is the former Lufthansa Lounge. Initially closed by Lufthansa in early 2020, it was taken over by Dresden Airport in 2022 and reopened. The lounge retains much of its original layout and design, which might feel somewhat dated compared to newer lounges.

On the positive side, while the food and drinks may not be on a super-premium level, they are sufficient for a small snack. Notably, the lounge offers Fritz Cola, which is rarely found in lounges, as far as I know. This local touch adds a bit of charm to the experience.

The old workstations, although no longer equipped with computers, still provide ample power outlets. This is convenient for travelers needing to charge their devices before boarding. However, the lack of modern amenities like high-speed internet or advanced workstations might be a drawback for some.

Conclusion

The lounge can be best described as small and functional. While it serves its purpose by providing a quiet space to relax and grab a quick snack, it doesn’t offer anything extraordinary. It’s not worth arriving at the airport early just to visit the lounge, but it’s a decent spot to pass the time before your flight. For travelers accustomed to more luxurious lounges, this might feel somewhat basic, but for a smaller airport like Dresden, it meets the basic needs of passengers.
