New Review – Lufthansa HON Lounge Berlin (BER)

Introduction to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)

Berlin Brandenburg Airport is a modern hub serving the German capital and surrounding regions. It offers a sleek and efficient travel experience, with various amenities and lounges available to enhance passenger comfort. The Lufthansa HON Lounge is one such facility, catering to the airline’s most valued customers.

Location and Access

The Lufthansa HON Lounge is located near Gate B20 in Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. To access it, you need to go up one floor using the elevator or stairs. Entry is granted to passengers with a First Class ticket from Swiss or Lufthansa on the same day (either arriving or departing) or to HON members (with a guest on the same flight), regardless of the booking class. The lounge operates from Monday to Friday between 5:00 AM and 8:30 PM.

Once you have access, you’ll be directed to a rather unassuming door opposite the reception, behind which the lounge is located. This discreet entrance might make it easy to overlook, so it’s important to ask for directions if needed.

Amenities

Given that it’s a very small room, I didn’t expect much—and my expectations were met. There’s a limited selection of drinks, including champagne, which is a nice touch for a premium lounge. Other notable features are scarce. There were some magazines available (unfortunately not photographed), but that was about it.

It’s also disappointing that the lounge lacks natural light. If you prefer natural light, you’re better off in the adjacent Business/Senator Lounge, which also offers a more extensive food selection. In this small lounge, you need to bring food from the other lounge if you want to eat, which can be inconvenient.

Service Experience

The service was friendly, but there were some issues with maintaining the lounge’s cleanliness. It took a while for the staff to clear the plates from previous passengers, which detracted from the overall experience. For a lounge catering to top-tier customers, this level of attention to detail is important.

Conclusion

It’s a nice waiting area that Lufthansa intends to offer to their top customers, but in my opinion, the execution isn’t particularly well done. The lack of natural light and the long wait for the previous passengers’ plates to be cleared marred the experience. Overall, while it’s a gesture towards premium service, it falls short of expectations. If you’re looking for a more comprehensive lounge experience, the nearby Business/Senator Lounge might be a better option.
