New Review – Hilton London Heathrow at Terminal 4 (LHR)

I was scheduled to arrive late in the evening at London Heathrow and didn’t feel like traveling into the city, so I opted for an airport hotel. Heathrow has several Hilton and IHG hotels, but I chose the Hilton London Heathrow at Terminal 4 for economic reasons. This decision was largely driven by the hotel’s proximity to the terminal and the convenience it offers for early morning flights or late arrivals. I booked a non-refundable rate through the Hilton app, selecting the cheapest room available, a King Guest Room, since it was only for one night.

Location

The hotel is conveniently located directly at Terminal 4, just a 5-minute walk away. Terminal 4 offers access to all forms of transportation, including the Tube and buses, and the free terminal transfer (landside), making it easy to move around the airport. This location is particularly beneficial for travelers with early flights or those who prefer not to deal with London’s traffic.

Check-In

Due to a delayed flight, I arrived at the hotel late in the evening. The check-in line was quite long, so I used the app to check-in and received my room key on my mobile device. This digital check-in process is a convenient feature offered by Hilton, allowing guests to skip the queue and head straight to their rooms. Unfortunately, there was no room upgrade available, even as a Diamond member. While upgrades are always appreciated, they are not guaranteed, especially during peak travel times.

Room

The initial impression is solid, considering it’s an airport hotel. Upon entering, the bathroom is on the right side, equipped with a toilet and shower. The bathroom lighting is good for hotel standards. The necessary toiletries (shower gel and shampoo) are available. I enjoyed the illuminated stylized map of Europe, which added a touch of personality to the room.

In the room itself, there’s a comfortable chair and a workspace next to the bed. The TV with relevant channels is easily viewable from the bed. As expected, there’s a safe, ironing board, and a coffee machine. The complimentary water bottles offered by Hilton are also available in the room. The mini-bar is empty, but you can chill water in it. This setup is typical for airport hotels, where guests often prioritize convenience over extensive amenities.

Bar / Restaurant

Breakfast is served in the restaurant as a generous buffet, including a small live cooking station for omelets. This is a nice touch, as freshly prepared dishes can make a big difference in starting your day off right.

Additionally, there’s a bar offering drinks, although it was closed in the evening. For travelers arriving late, it might be worth noting that dining options outside the hotel are limited, so it’s good to plan ahead.

Lounge

The lounge is located in the entrance area and is accessible to guests with Executive rooms as well as those with status. It operates from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Depending on the time of day, it offers warm dishes and alcoholic beverages. The lounge is a great place to relax and enjoy some snacks before your flight.

Fitness Center

The gym is well-equipped and provides enough variety for an extended workout. For fitness enthusiasts, this facility ensures that you can maintain your routine even while traveling.

Check-Out

Check-out was straightforward and friendly. I was able to reach the airport and then the Tube on foot, which was convenient for my onward journey. The efficient check-out process is important for travelers with early flights or tight schedules.

Conclusion

The stay was okay. The hotel is a solid airport hotel, recommended for an overnight stay at Heathrow due to its convenient location. While it doesn’t offer anything extraordinary, it serves its purpose well for travelers needing a quick and easy stay near the airport. Its proximity to Terminal 4 and the availability of basic amenities make it a practical choice for those looking to minimize travel time to and from the airport.
